Italian American Academy - San Diego
The Italian American Academy is a not-for-profit organization of parents and educators whose ultimate goal is to develop fully bilingual and bicurricular scholastic programs for children.
Blending rigorous European curriculum and dynamic American teaching style, programs are based on the current and official elementary school curriculum of Italy. Classes are taught by mother tongue educators and are open to all children.
There are two different program traks: one specifically designed for children who have previously been exposed to Italian, and one designed for beginners with no previous exposure to the language. Classes of both program tracks are taught in a fun and nurturing environment where kids will be encouraged to open their minds to a new language and a new perspective on the world.
Our ultimate goal is to start a fully bilingual and bi-curricular elementary school. The afternoon programs will serve two main purposes: raise funds for the long term project and prepare our student base.
CLASSES AND FEES
Italian for Beginners
Mondays 4:00-5:30PM
This class is specifically designed for children who are totally or somewhat new to Italian language. While cultural contents will be the same for all classes, the Monday class will focus on Italian language acquisition. To ensure the best educational experience children will be divided in two groups:
• K-1-2 ( 5yrs-6yrs-7yrs) - Gruppo Pulcini
• 3-4-5 (8yrs-9yrs-10yrs) – Gruppo Lupetti
TUITION FEE: $90 for 4 Mondays
ADMINISTRATIVE FEE: $40 yearly per family
DISCOUNTS: 10% sibling discount

Italian for Italian Speakers
Thursdays 4:00-5:30PM
This class is designed for children who have previously been exposed to the Italian language through family communication or in other school settings. Children will have an opportunity to improve their conversation skills, learn how to read and write in Italian and learn elements of Italian history, geography, and culture. To ensure the best learning experience children are divided in 3 groups:
• K-1 (5yrs-6yrs) – Gruppo Rodari
• 2-3 (7yrs-8yrs) – Gruppo Collodi
• 4-5 (9yrs -10yrs) – Gruppo De Amicis
