The ICC is proud to employ some of the best professionally trained instructors. Classes are taught by native speakers who have been part of the Italian language teaching scene for several years.

 
Silvia Arnone Metzger: Teacher and Board Member
From: Genova, Italia
Born and raised in Italy, she obtained her “Laurea” degree from the University of Genova where she worked as a researcher until she moved to California.She has traveled extensively. She has worked as an interpreter and translator and has been teaching Italian for over 20 years at all levels in institutions and Universities in the San Diego area and in Australia and Italy.
Silvia has been involved with the Italian Cultural Center since the beginnings of the organization and has served on the Board as Vice President and President for several years. She particularly enjoys teaching at the Italian Cultural Center, where she finds the students very interesting and stimulating because they are motivated and eager to learn the Italian language and culture. She has been teaching Italian at ICC since 1989.
 
Paola Baracco: Teacher (Adults and Kids)
From Torino, Italia
Born and raised in the city of Torino in northern Italy, Paola received from the Universita degli Studi di Torino the Literary Arts Degree. She also achieved a Master in Communications Technique at the University of Leeds (UK). In Italy she worked for 12 years for several worldwide Advertising Agencies as a Director of Client Relationships . She moved to San Diego in 2004 and had two kids. In the meantime she started teaching Italian in private Schools, Cultural Center (in La Jolla) and Elementary Schools. She joined the ICC in 2010 and at the same time has been teaching Italian at Washington Elementary School since then. Her passions are kids, painting, reading, yoga.
 
Laura Bianconcini: Teacher
From: Roma, Italia

Laura is a native of Rome where she lived almost her entire life. She has studied as a Tour Operator, having her school just in front of the Coliseum. Because of her strong interest in tourism and foreign languages, although in different areas, she pursued working in international and multicultural environment in Italy and abroad, for American corporations. She traveled extensively all over Europe teaching Corporate Performance Management applications.
Passionate of Italian culture she held Italian cuisine courses and organized cinema events. Laura speaks fluently English, French and Spanish. She has a particular interest in discovering Italian unspoiled destinations, with their local products and traditions that she promotes by designing customized trips through her travel company. Laura also served as President of ICC. Laura teaches Italian also at UCSD Extension.
 
Rossella Broglia: Teacher and Director of Language Programs
From: Pavia, Italia
Rossella was born and raised in Pavia, a city south-west of Milan. She obtained her “Laurea” degree in Economics at the University of Pavia and her Master’s Degree summa cum laude in Education/Promotion of the Italian Language and Culture abroad from at University of Venice. She moved to San Diego in 2003 and started teaching Italian at ICC. Periodically she teaches at UCSD to undergraduate students. She is a very dedicated teacher, enthusiastic and witty. She always encourages her students to do their best by keeping a positive attitude and a friendly and warm atmosphere in class. “Although I enjoy teaching all levels I have a weakness for beginners. I feel very much sympathetic with them because they remind me of myself when I first moved to San Diego: no English and lots of courage”. Besides teaching Italian she likes cooking for her friends, hiking and music, but her biggest passions are her two wonderful kids Giulia and Tommaso.
 

Simonetta Carr: Teacher
From: Reggio Emilia, Italia
 
A native of Reggio Emilia, Simonetta has spent her youth in Milan. For most of her life, she has lived in different countries of the world, where she has continued to teach Italian and work as a freelance writer for newspapers and magazines. She has now settled in San Diego, where she works as a fulltime mom (of eight!), and part-time teacher and translator.
 
 
 
 
 
Rossella Chiolini Bagley: Teacher
From: Pavia, Italia

Born and raised in Pavia, a town located in Lombardy just south of Milan, in Northern Italy.  Rossella has been actively involved with both the ICC and House of Italy for over 9 years. She obtained her Master's degree from SDSU in Spanish Language and Literature and is passionate about teaching both Italian and Spanish.  With her natural ability to educate and tutor, Rossella transforms her classes into fun.  "I am truly blessed to be surrounded by wonderful students who share not only the desire to learn the Italian language but who also embrace and love Italian culture."
 

Eleonora Contaldi Innis: Teacher
From: Torino, Italia
Born and raised in the beautiful city of Torino. Eleonora has attained her University Degree in English and French Language and Literature at the Università degli Studi di Torino. In Italy she taught English, Italian and French language and literature in private schools and cultural centers. She moved to San Diego in 2007 and started teaching French for private schools. She joined ICC in 2008 and has been teaching Italian instruction programs since then. She has also been teaching Italian at Washington Elementary School. 


Luca Dal Pubel: Teacher
From: Vicenza, Italia

Born in Vicenza, in the north-east of Italy, he earned his Laurea in Law at the University of Bologna. He loves teaching Italian and training in mediation and conflict resolution. His passions are surfing, international politics and writing. Luca has worked as an Alternative Resolution Specialist with the National Conflict Resolution Center since 2004 and is an accredited mediator at the Ministry of Justice of Italy. He has been teaching Italian at ICC since 2003. He is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Negotiation, Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding at California State University-Dominguez Hills.

Michela Di Bella: Teacher
From: Palermo, Italia

Born and raised in a small town in the beautiful Madonie’s park, Palermo. She studied at the University of Palermo. After she got married she left the beloved Sicily and moved North, to Magenta. She worked in Milano for many years writing software programs. She came to San Diego for a family vacation, fell in love with the place and has now been living here with her family for over eight years. She started teaching Italian for Poway Adult Education in 2000 and for the ICC in 2005 and she loves it. She shares with her students all the passion and love she has for Italy and for Italian Culture and Art.
  
Consuelo Endrigo-Williams: Teacher
From: Pordenone, Italia
Born in the northern Italian city of Pordenone, Consuelo Endrigo-Williams achieved her Laurea in Art History from the University of Bologna in Italy. While studying for her degree, Ms Endrigo-Williams lectured and conducted art laboratories for young students for the Museum of Contemporary Art of Bologna in the Education Department. Additionally, Endrigo-Williams guided visitors through various exhibitions at Villa Impero. Before moving to San Diego in 2008, she worked in New York City’s prestigious art galleries and museums, including The International Center for Photography (ICP) and Grassi Studios. Due to an intrinsic attraction to visual art and languages, Endrigo-Williams is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Italian Studies from the University of Venice.


Maria Maestrini Williamson: Teacher
From: Torino, Italia

Born in Milan, Maria has been living in San Diego for ten years. She received her Laurea in Linguistics/Translation & Interpretation in Torino, where she was raised.
She feels passionate about the city of Torino and the Piedmontese region. An avid reader, she loves traveling and learning about foreign cultures. She is excited to have an opportunity to promote Italian Culture in San Diego.

Gabriella Pozzoli
From: Napoli, Italia

Born and raised in Italy,she obtained her Laurea degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures. In Napoli she was teaching English in High School and Elementary school.
After moving to Maryland, she started teaching Italian Language in Washington D.C.for adults and US diplomatic and Military Personnel, and she also taught Italian in adults classes in Maryland.
After her daughter was born she moved with the family to San Diego.
Since then she has dedicated herself to raise her daughter, but not for a second she forgot about her passion, teaching. She is currently teaching Italian to children and adults at the ICC.
Her passiona are reading and cooking.
"I consider myself lucky to work in the friendly atmosphere of the ICC. Everytime I have classes my spirit gets happy, I meet new and interesting people who enrich my life and at the same time I help promoting my Country."

Roberto Ruocco: Teacher and ICC President
From: Napoli, Italia

Born and raised in Naples, Italy. He considered himself a "complete" Italian having lived in the North, Center, South and islands of Italy during his Air Force Officer's long career.
He is a lawyer licensed in Italy specializing in immigration law. Presently is the Honorary Vice Consul of Italy in San Diego, President of the Italian Cultural Center, President of the San Diego Italian Film Festival, President of the House of Italy in Balboa Park. He has been teaching at the Italian Cultural Center since 2005.


Silvia Santinato Kading: Teacher
 
From Gorizia, Italia
Silvia was born in Gorizia and grew up in Monfalcone located in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. She earned her Diploma di Laurea with honors at the University of Trieste in Foreign Languages and Literatures, where she also specialized in teaching foreign languages. After teaching for a few years in Italian public and private schools, she moved to the USA in 1998 where she continued to further her education both in teaching and business management. She is involved with international projects, including several translations and voice-over projects for the travel industry. She started teaching at the ICC in 2007 and is also currently teaching courses in Italian at Southwestern College in Chula Vista. She loves teaching, reading, and keeping herself updated with Italian cultural, political, and social arenas. 


Ilaria Tabusso: Teacher and Board Member
From Roma, Italia

Born and raised in Rome, but with family origins from Torino, Ilaria got her University degree in Literature and Philosophy from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. Before moving to San Diego she taught Italian to foreigners in Rome. In San Diego, she has taught for several years at UCSD Extension and at the Italian Cultural Center, to both adults and children. Although she loves traveling and no longer lives in Italy, her “italianità” is with her wherever she goes. She loves her culture, food and way of socializing! 
She feels that languages are the mirror of the culture and the society. To her, there is no better way of sharing her own culture and love for her country than teaching her own language: Italian.

Andrea Zarattini, Teacher and Board Member
From: Bologna, Italia

Born and raised in Bologna, Andrea has an Italian Degree in Engineering Construction & Land surveying and in Public Works Management from Palomar College. In Italy he was a production manager for the leading firms in swimwear and intimate apparel, and currently he is working for the County of San Diego in the Department of Public Work as Resident Engineer. Teacher, former Vice President and active board member since 1999, Andrea enjoys sharing the beauty and culture of his Italian heritage.
During the last fifteen years, he has developed a passion for Italian cuisine and he his currently attending a culinary arts program at Grossmont College. He his a wine and food connoisseur with a special interest in extra-virgin olive oil and Italian I.G.P., D.O.P. and D.O.P.G. products especially from the Italian region of Abruzzo.

We do sometimes seek part-time native Italian instructors with the start of each new term to teach Italian language or Italian culture classes in art, music, opera, literature, and more!
